Glasgow İskoçya'nin en büyük şehri. Şehir "Batı Merkezi İskoçya" alçak rakımlı arazilerinde Clyde Nehri kıyılarında bu nehrin İrlanda Denizi'ne açılan haliçi üzerinde konumlanmıştır. Şehir sınırları içinde nüfusu (2015 tahmini ile) 599,650 kişi olup [1] Birleşik Krallık'ta (Londra ve Birmingham'dan sonra) nüfus itibarıyla üçüncü büyük şehri. Varoşları ile birlikte şehirleşmiş arazilerden oluşan Büyük Glasgow'un nüfusu (2007 Nüfus tahminine göre) 1,750,000 kişi idi.[2] Şehir Victoria devrinde Britanya İmparatorluğu'nun ikinci şehri olarak bilinirdi. Şehrin nüfusu 19. yüzyılın sonlarında ve 20. yüzyıl başında 1 milyonun üzerine çıkmıştır. O yıllarda Londra ve Paris'in ardından Avrupa'da bu yoğunlukta nüfusa sahip üçüncü şehirdi. 2001 sayımlarına göre Glasgow'un nüfusu 629.501'dir.
